33 Friends and supporters of the PDS made a brave attempt at climbing Snowdon (3590ft) in atrocious weather conditions for the summer. The wind gusted up to 60mph, the rain was horizontal and it was cold.
The leaders of the group in charge of safety instructed Alun and Bob Taylor, both with PD to travel by train to Clogwyn and then meet the rest of the party and walk up with them.
The original plan of following the Miners Trail and coming back on the Pyg Track were abandoned and every one set off from Llanberis.
Sadly Alun and Bob, who were accompanied by Graham, were first told the train would only run to Rocky Valley and then just before boarding the train, after waiting one hour and a half, that they would not be allowed to get off the train which would stop at Rocky Valley. The three set off hoping, but it was not to be.

So far over £2000 has been collected

Active Image This weekend, the Chair of YPN and webmaster is climbing SNOWDON, the highest peak in Wales at 3559 ft. Alun has the help of 30 friends, including teachers from Porthcawl Comprehensive school, Colin Cheeseman who is on the Board of Trustees of the PDS, Liz and Bob Taylor form London, Marc Davies from the Midlands, my Sister, Brother-in-law and my son Dave, Mark Smith who looks after my feet, and a few of his mates.

The aim is to get the four people in the party to the top of Snowdon and bring them back down; to raise awareness of PD; to raise money for research; and to have a weekend away to enjoy each others company and have a good time.
